The bandsaw is without a doubt one of the most useful and versatile pieces of equipment that any woodworker can have. This is mainly due to its ability to cut deep sections as well as curved and straight lines.

Quick release blade tension
A properly tensioned blade is essential for making
accurate cuts and is a prerequisite for making
many bandsaw adjustments. The blade tension is
adjusted by rotating the blade tension lever.
Cast iron wheels
If the wheels are heavier, you will have more inertia, which would help in handling peak loads. It follows that any operation where the blade is bogged down for a short while, the heavier wheels will get you through more likely.
